Association of School Councils in Victoria

Independently pursuing excellence in educational governance since 1914

Governance Training

School/College Boards are constituted so that their membership represents the views of the total school community and while this diversity is the real strength of School/College Boards, it also imposes on Board Members, the responsibility to become an effective member of a team.

Board Members need to be fully aware of the requirements for good governance and well informed on key educational issues. All Board Members therefore have a responsibility to undertake professional development in order to become confident and competent participants in debates, discussions and in decision-making.
